Come see an installation of my poetry and illustrations at Zed’s Cafe in downtown Silver Spring, off of Georgia Avenue. I put new versions of two of the illustrations below in the show.

Shadows
Meredith's poetry, travel, watercolor
I float freely in contained space
Meredith's poetry, watercolorI float freely in contained space
holding onto edges at lane’s ends
and staying within the lines
A safe place for me to think
I see more clearly under aqua blue
than when looking at mirrored reflections above
Buoyant feelings bubble out my throat
As each unspoken number brings me closer to the next turn
Bursting forth and slowing down
I turn my head for air
Kicking waves behind me
A few more silent numbers to chant before I finish
Day moving on its tiptoes
Meredith's poetry, watercolorSufjan Stevens comes on and
droplets of sound become turning signals
and
people crossing streets
and
wing beats of pigeons
and
the day moving on its tiptoes through the city streets
I feel the sound of sun rays
playing through windows on my face
out of Egypt, into the great laugh of mankind,
and I shake the dirt from my sandals as I run
the title says as though I’m in the wilderness
I have a show coming up in January, so the next posts will be based on the theme of the show(my poetry with illustrations). Looking forward to your feedback. 🙂
Horse Training
Day in the lifeI started this series of a friend training horses maybe a month or two ago. So far I have the location and some of the preparation, the ride, and the clean up. It was fun to follow her around and see her ride at such a high level. The location was beautiful too. One of the perks of Maryland is all the beautiful horse farms.
